Learners

Learning to drive can be exciting but many come to it feeling stressed as well.  Everyone feels differently but I remember as a 16-year-old (a ‘few’ years ago, now!) dreading starting to learn after my next birthday.  I have helped many people make the journey from their first ever time of controlling a car to that triumphant moment, holding the precious pass certificate, the symbol and key to driving independence.

I am friendly and patient and will do everything I can to support you and help you relax as you learn your driving skills.  Every lesson is tailored to the individual student's needs: the process of learning in each lesson as over the course of the lessons is about addressing what you want and you need, with me keeping you safe, and helping you to grow and develop as a driver at your own pace.

Like every good book, we need a beginning, a middle and an end.  At the start, we review what happened last lesson and any driving experiences since, confirming or modifying the plan for this time.  Next, we start to execute the plan but change it as and when it needs changing.  After a while (not necessarily at the end) we review what has been achieved and make a provisional plan for the next piece of driving time.

Whilst I take very seriously the important role, I have to keep you and others safe as you learn to drive, wherever possible I work through a coaching method rather than instructing.  I will be asking you questions to draw out your thoughts and understanding; I won't just be telling you what to do. People learn most effectively when they work things out for themselves as much as possible. Like children, we learn well through play, so my aim, as far as possible, is for you to relax and enjoy your lessons.  This may seem far-fetched if you are reading this before you start but please read the reviews written by my former students: I genuinely want you to enjoy the process, and I will be enjoying it alongside you.  I look forward to getting started!
